Had another Doctor Who Forum-tastic weekend over last few days, including:
Ed's 40th. Including Canada Quiz that was a lot of fun.
Going out in town in my platforms Friday night. Always a plus
Having a rather fabulous Sunday with Shaz & Nick, ending up in Coffee Mania (that's becoming a habit) and A diner that had a bad drawing of Elvis on the loo door that made him look like something from 29 Days Later.
Rich is coming down for the week now - YAY
Tomorrow is the KI'n'DA 50 party, but I shall only be there briefly at two points across the evening as I shall be heading to the CIA to drink Baileys from a shoe, as The Mighty Boosh are in town and we have tickets.

So I have had no voice for two days now
Don't you wish you had been here to take advantage of that?
I have a swollen throat and my gland things in my neck are up to the point they poke out and I look like Frankenstein's Monster - and that really hurts.
So in a moment of self pity, and partly desperation after letting Dan watch nearly three hours of Power Rangers (he is worse than I am right now with this bug), inspired by something I read in Empire magazine today (last months issue), I watched Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
Of course, I don't need to tell you anything about the film, because you have seen it. (Anybody who hasn't needs to do so immediately)
So you know the scene where they are leaving the swanky restaurant at lunchtime, and Ferris' dad is stood by the door? His Dad is having a conversation with his client. About advertising and finding the budget to advertise because if you want to sell more, you have to spend on advertising. A conversation I am involved in many many times a week.
When did that happen?
When did I become Ferris Buellers Dad?
When the movie first came out, I was 16, going on 17 (ooh sound like a cue for a song). I was quite a lot Ferris and just a bit Cameron. This worked fine because my best bud Alex was a lot Cameron but a bit Ferris, so we had a good balance.
But I suppose when you factor in that my son would have been 18 by now ... the age Ferris is in the film .. it sort of adds up.
Now I am not only ill but totally fucking depressed too.
The world can be so cruel.

Falling Apart at the Seams

Over the last 5 days I have managed to have a bad eye infection and am now going down with man flu.
But hey - it was Samhain last week !! Woohoo!
I was a bit upset initially on Friday. For the first year in a long time, I didn't have a pumpkin.
Well, I did ... but Id left it in a carrier bag, it was wet and rotted. I only found out last thing Thursday and of course, nobody had any left on Friday. BAH
But it was a corker of a weekend. I did another quiz night - complete with video rounds. A lot of my chums from DWF came along, so all in all we had people from Berkshire, Southampton, Glasgow, Manchester, Dublin and Cardiff. It was a proper UK wide gathering! Pics on the Face of Book.

I expect you are wondering what I think about David leaving Doctor Who?
Well, not a lot really. He wasn't going to stay forever was he? I do pity the poor bastard who gets the job next though. I daresay, the decision is already made, and the chap is already feeling the pressure, seeing the press its getting already.
A few people seem to think that the announcement will be made before Christmas. Cant say I agree. I mean, if they tell us now, its 18 months before we see him on screen - that's just a ridiculous scenario. He'll be ripped to shreds before setting foot in the TARDIS - remember the furore over Daniel Craig?
Which segues nicely into Quantum of Solace. Yet to see it, but I cant find a person who has that has liked it. Oops.
I'm not a Bond fan really, so wont care one way or the other
